Gaming companies like MGM MIRAGE, Las Vegas Sands Corp. and Wynn Resorts are building exact duplicates of their resorts in Macau. An island of mainland China it is the only place in China where casinos are legal and it already generates more gambling revenue than the Las Vegas strip.

In fact, the new Venetian Macau will have 3,000 hotels rooms, 700 gaming tables and a separate building for Cirque du Soleil. There is so much buzz in Las Vegas around Macau that industry leaders believe that Asia and other international projects are the future of Las Vegas casino and resorts companies. Will Vegas see a decline in the number of tourist, especially those from Asia due to new developments in Macau?

I think it would take many years to actaully make a significant dent in Vegas' popularity.

It will be interesting to see what they would do to entice people to from going to the US to travel to a country where the laws are quite different. Some of what happens in Vegas may get one put in prison in China.
